Term six, a busy one! Lots of success and extra activities as we move closer to the end of the year. Yesterday we had some visitors from the library, Mr Toogood and Miss Smith who shared the exciting writing challenge that is taking place over the holiday. This year the theme is ‘Mischief Makers’ –not that anyone at WJS would know anything about that ! Dennis the Menace is the main character and I’m sure you would recognise other characters from the Beano comic. Well worth a visit to the library. The competition will run from the 14th July right through the Summer break. There will be a story telling session every Thursday and a special craft event on Saturday 18th August, if you are around. We had a meeting with our team of caterers last week and we revisited current payment processes for school lunches. Most of our families ensure that lunch money accounts are in credit or top-up as soon as reminded, thankyou for this. Unfortunately we have an increasing number of occasions where debt for school lunches has accrued, despite reminders from school. Our catering company Chartwell will step in to recover monies over £20 as the funds are owed to them, not the school. If this happens then unfortunately lunches will not be supplied and packed lunches will need to be provided from home until the debt is cleared.
As we reach the end of the year if your child is in year six could you check that the account is in credit for £4.50 by next Friday(20th), so that lunches are paid if the need them on Monday( 23rd) and Tuesday (24th).
Mrs Knoupe will be sending out a news letter next week, with reminders and thoughts about next year. But no more from me, I am signing off. It’s been great working with you, amazing to share some of the magical times with your children. Thankyou for your support, kind words and I can happily handover the reins to Mrs Knoupe in the knowledge that she will make a super headteacher. Have a wonderful Summer with your families, don’t forget to make time to ‘be’ with them, as I have said before these years fly by and that game of Monopoly or football that you promised to play is so much more important than the chores. All the best, Mrs Steward x
